That Moment…

There’s a moment…just before the sun dips under the horizon…and lasting through the gloaming…where the light makes everything look magically orange. I think if there are mythical creatures they only come out at this time. And in moments they are gone. You can stand and look and it seems as if time stands still…seed pods float on the breeze, the rustling leaves slow…but if you try to make it last it dissipates in the wind.

  1. Spoken beautifully and a beautiful pic as well.

  2. Something I once wrote–the beginning of a chapter:

Sunset warm and dry, the light bouncing yellow, like polarized light seen through shooter’s glasses, off the sides of brick buildings, energy snapping between relaxed cars and people cruising up and down, around, tuning up. The smell of fresh-mowed lawns.

Despite the people and cars, the light and the dry warmth made him feel as if the city were deserted, as if the pickup and him were the only things alive, full of parts, blood and oil and water, not just images.

  3. Thanks Kat.

And I think you’re talking about the same thing. That’s pretty cool.
